THE MONTH-LONG Pamul inawen Fe s t ival was kicked off by a colorful civicmilitary parade on February 1, 2011 and which was participated in by all offices of the Laoag City government, led by elected officials; other government agencies, private business establishments, public and private schools, the city’s barangay officials and the city’s Philippine National Police. Laoag police chief P/Supt. Sterling Blanco, who was in charge of the overall peace and order situation during the parade, thanked the people who cooperated to make the opening parade of the city’s fiesta celebration orderly and peaceful.

AROUND 2,500 people attended the reopening of the Malacañang ti Amianan on January 1, 2011. The former residence of the late Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos has been under the management of the DOT until November 23, 2010 when it was officially turned over to the PGIN. Since then, a massive renovation work took place in time for the grand reopening. A free concert along the Paoay Lake was also held. In her speech during the house blessing, Governor Imee Marcos invited everyone to hold events and receptions in the newly restored mansion.

High investment hopes for Ilocos Norte in 2011

INVESTMENT confidence in 2011 is high in Ilocos Norte with new infrastructure developments that will help generate local income and, in the process, reduce dependence on the national government.
Ilocos Norte Gov. Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos promised to bring the province back to business by introducing various investment and tourism prospects in select towns.

BIR intensifies IN tax mapping operation

THE LOCAL Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) office here in Laoag City has intensified its tax mapping operation in the province to be able to meet collection target and identify possible tax evaders.
Next year or in 2011, revenue district officer Melanie Soriano said teams will be going from establishment to establishment to check whether businesses are complying with the BIR tax requirements such as cash registration, display of payment of annual registration and issuance of sales invoices and official receipts.

DUMALNEG, Ilocos Norte—The Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) successfully held its 36th Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) meeting at the Dumalneg Municipal Auditorium in this town on December 18, 2010 with Director Milagros Quinajon of the Institutional Development Department (IDD) of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) serving as the guest of honor and speaker.
Quinajon thanked INEC for inviting her once again as their special guest because she failed to attend when she was first invited in the past but this time around she said there was no more reason for her not to accept the invitation as she disclosed that she is from Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and that she was proud to be an Ilocano.
